Thai Pride Bamboo Shoots - young shoots of common bamboo widely used in Asian cuisine - fresh, boiled, dried, marinated, and in the form of canned goods. Bamboo used for food is harvested immediately after sprouting, while the shoots are still covered with very strong, dark brown, hairy sheaths, which are removed before culinary processing. Tender and slightly crunchy bamboo shoots are consumed in almost all tropical Asian countries as they are not only delicious but also rich in nutrients: vitamins A, B6, E, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin, folic acid, and pantothenic acid, as well as minerals. Bamboo is also popular in traditional Eastern medicine.
